Why mobile menu side bar? Want to scroll down instead.

When viewing my site from mobile device, the main navigation menu (which still isn’t working after first click) when clicked on, turns into a right handed side bar. Rather clunky. Is there a way for the page to just scroll down to the link instead of having that bar show up, blacking out the screen?
