website looks different in different browsers

Our new website doesn’t look the same in all browsers. It looks the way we want it to in Google Chrome, but in Internet Explorer it doesn’t put the pictures and text where we designed them to be and the color behind the tabs isn’t the same as what we designed.
Other people logging on to the website have told us the same thing. Can you explain this or help us resolve this issue? Thanks
