Visual Composer removes line breaks

I am trying to use line breaks on my page and Visual composer keeps removing them. If I use text mode I can insert <br> tags and my page is formatted correctly but if I have to go back into Visual Composer to make another change it removes all line breaks from the entire page. Pretty much makes Visual Composer unusable for me.

I am assuming there is some other way to insert a line break that I don’t know about. and no holding shift while hitting enter does not work.
