Various little niggles and tweaks…

First up… thank you team HB!

You’ve been very quick to respond to help requests and come back to me with a fix for everything I’ve asked.

I’ll be using this theme for a few sites, so the help you’ve given me in getting this first one right, will help me fast track the other sites I’ll be using this theme for.

That said… I need someone to take a look at a few final problems and tweaks I need to complete the first site…

1. I’ve put a post slider on a page and set it not to auto rotate through the post previews preferring to keep it static and let the viewer navigate the slider if they wish. BUT… when you hover over the slider and the navigation arrows appear at each end… how can I remove the text from the navigation arrows? Apart from the fact I don’t need the text, the left side that says ‘previous’… the text is broken across two lines.

2. I’ve added a ‘team members box’ on a page, which works great apart from… when on hover over a team member’s image, the hover effect displays a ‘mail’ icon in the middle, which is fine, but… when you click it and it tries to open the user’s default email client to send an email… on some browsers it also opens a new tab (on some browsers the tab closes again instantly, but on others it stays open as an empty tab). So… can I remove that mail icon and instead just have an icon that links to the team member’s profile page?

3. When I have a page with just a small amount of content that doesn’t fill the page, the copyright bar and footer appears in the middle of the screen instead of at the bottom of the screen. I can obviously fix this by adding a spacer element, but… is there not a setting to automatically make the copyright bar and footer stick to the bottom of the screen?

4. I’ve used essential grid for a page, to display what will become a video grid, where they will open and play in a modal. This works on Firefox and Chrome, but on Safari… it takes a long time for the page to finish loading and when it does, the video won’t open properly. It plays, but is just displaying as a tiny placeholder. (Less important as it’s not one of the mainstream browsers, but it fails to open the video in Maxthon, too.)

5. And finally… having looked around the forum, I’ve seen this has been a bit of an issue… mostly because of one particularly rude user demanding too much, but… the Quick Contact box…

I love it. I think it’s a great little feature. But… I too would like to have some level of control over it, such as adding a checkbox for mailing list subscription, additional fields, some kind of anti spam check, etc.

Of course, I understand that it requires a bit more than a simple css tweak and as it’s not broken… any changes to it quite rightly start to cross over into theme customisation which you justifiably charge a fee for. That said… if there’s enough people wanting to have more control over this element… is there not an argument for adding this functionality in a future update?

In the meantime, instead of tweaking multiple theme files to customise it… is it not possible to simply have the icon point to an alternative modal id, which could contain a CF7 form or whatever type of form the user wants to put in the modal?
