struggling with fullwidth video

hello,

I wanted to mimic a full-width video on my homepage underneath a transparent header menu like this: http://hb-themes.com/themes/highend/presentation/contact-us/

However when I try to use the shortcode generator for a fullwidth box and select background source as video, and I enter the URL, the javascript box freezes and it doesn’t process my request. I’ve tried using the visual editor and I can enable the fullwidth video but it is zoomed in to where I cannot see the bottom half of the video and the text appears as standard block text at the top of the video. I’m curious how to get the nice graphic text in the middle like on the contact-us page above.

I’ve also tinkered with the headers and can’t figure out how to achieve the transparent result on the page I linked above. Is there a special code for this?
