Social links not working in High end

It looks like the social links option is not working in high end for me.
I have entered several URL’s in this area. I then added the HP widget for this in the footer and only the title appeared (no icons or links). So I then added a top header bar in the options area and turned right widget > social icons on. This did not generate icons or links in the top header either. (although other features in the top header did appear).
This feature is very important to me. Can you suggest what I may be doing wrong?
