side panel custom menu styling problem

I want to use the side panel to display an alternate (custom) menu. Some of the menu items will have sub-menus. Currently, in such a case the sub-menu items are styled with a horizontal line separator. I’d prefer that all sub-menu items be grouped together (visually) under each first-level menu item. In other words, the only horizontal line separators should be between first-level menu items (or groups). Can you give me the styling code for accomplishing that? You’ve already helped me by insuring that the sub-menu items are indented appropriately — now if I can just get rid of the separator, we’ll be golden.
