shortcode callout ignoring background color

Hi,
I’m having problems with the callout shortcode in the Highend theme. My setup is using the theme’s color options, no custom CSS.
I changed the theme content bg color to grey, and the front page background set to transparent. The callout box displays a white bg ignoring all my efforts to change it, including color shortcode attribute and custom CSS (disabled now, used only as part of testing)
