Several Questions/Problems with the "Image Gallery"

You’ll see an Image Gallery where I’ve made the “Column Background” purple.

Questions:
1. How do you control the spacing between the horizontal rows of images? I want them to touch each other top to bottom like they do side to side.

2. How do you control the size of the Column Area. Like if I wanted the bottom border to line up with the bottom of the bottom-most image (so you couldn’t see any purple under the bottom row of images). You’ll see that there’s a quite large purple margin under the bottom row of images. How do you control that? I’ve put both positive and negative pixel values into the Border, Margin, and Padding boxes while editing the column, but nothing ever changes.

Problem:
Click on any of the images. A new window will open displaying the image in a larger area. This works fine, but the close button down in the bottom, right corner of this larger image doesn’t work. When you click on that to make this image/window go away, you’re simply taken to the next image.
