search box display

I have entered the following CSS to style the search bar on my site:

#fancy-search #s {
color: #fffeff;

On my computer it looks like image: search_bar_computer1
The text prompt is rendering in black and the curser is white.
On the client’s computer it looks like image: search_bar_computer2
The text prompt doesn’t render until you click the curser, but it does render in white.

I want the text prompt to render in white and to display on both computers. How can I fix this?
