Right Side Bar Issues

I am using the Highend Theme.
I am trying to setup a blog with a “blog-grid with sidebar”

I am in the customize settings and selected static page and was going through the list of options. When I select “Blog Grid – Sidebar”

When I try previewing it on the main page, it does not show any sidebar.
I am also wishing to have it located on the right side.

In Highend Options, under default settings and sidebar layout, I select “Right Sidebar”.

I was under the impression that setting up the “look” of this theme would be much easier then it has been. I am hoping I can get this resolved, my wife is already getting very discouraged with the theme.
