Responsive design issues

I’m having some trouble with the responsive design. I don’t think it’s a matter of something being wrong with the functionality, but I’m having trouble trying to get the desired outcome.

This is the page that I’m working on. I’d like to create a fullwidth section with an image background, centered text, and bellow that I’d like to have two centered buttons. Everything looks fine on most screens except cell phone screens. On a cell phone in landscape the buttons stack in an odd way, and in portrait one of the buttons changes shape.

I have tried to add buttons in rows that are split into columns, I have tried adding the buttons as short codes in a text block. and nothing ever works out quite right.

I watched all the videos relating to this on the visual composer website, but nothing really fixed my particular issue.

I’d appreciate any help or advice you can offer on helping me fix these issues.
