"Quote" button in Forum does not work correctly

the “quote” button in my forum does not work properly. when responding to another member on my website and hitting the quote button in my forum, the person’s response that I am hitting the “quote” response to is not properly displayed. Instead of properly showing the previous person’s response, it shows some of the coding language along with the person’s response.
