Menu Drop Down Issues / Home Page

1. How do I make a first level Main Menu item with drop down items that does not direct to a page. I would only like it to, when hovered over, show the drop down items. I do not want it to direct to a page.

2. How do I make the navigation drop down background color to be slightly transparent?
