Main menu dropping down over content, between full and mobile

When I shrink my desktop browser window, at a certain point the main menu drops below header and overlaps main content. I tried to remove a few menu items [the minimum I could live with], but it still does this.

Eventually, the mobile menu does show up, but there is a zone between where things are muddled.

I wouldn’t know where to start, fixing this.
