Keeping custom exert length after update

Hi!

I am using a widget SIMPLE POST LIST on my home page.
The only moment I would like to change is a EXERT length. But every time I change it, after the update it returns back to a default length.

Can I somehow “save” my settings even If I want to have all of your updates?
