I am unable to update Visual composer

My theme Highend is not working properly. I don’t see all the features on the page editing backend. When I switch page templates the options disappear. I am not able to update visual composer, not able to use the front end editor. It is just a mess, please help!!!

I like the theme but it has been hard to work with it. I found some information about updating VC, please see screen shot.
