Been testing my website before it goes live.

Essential Grid is amazing, especially that it will basically take all kinds of video sources — Vimeo, YouTube, self-hosted. BUT in a couple of instances, I’m finding its performance a bit strange. In the HTML5, self-hosted case, is there any way to show the player controls? There are no controls, and the video just loops endlessly until you close the popup.

I contacted the author of Essential Grid, but because EG came bundled with Highend, he essentially (see what I did there?) passed the buck back to you guys to help. (He did suggest that having a player controller should be possible.)

Also, on some devices my HTML5 video plays in a teeny tiny window. Specifically, my friend’s new Android phone. (Samsung Galaxy Stellar.) The videos don’t resize to as large as they should but instead play in a dinky little window. Any ideas?

To test, go to http://64.17.2.243/reel/, click the “See More of our Work” button, and then click to play any of the videos starting with the baseball player (the 15th video). Most of the videos from that point on are self-hosted, with a couple of exceptions. If it has YouTube/Vimeo branding, it’s obviously not. These are the same videos that play small on the Android phone, though they are mostly encoded at 960×540 or at least 480×360.
