How to turn off navigation in linked pages

My main page is all set with navigation the way I like. However, I do not want that navigation on the linked pages. The arrows are in the way, the pages are too short and they are just not necessary. I have checked the “disable main navigation” on those sub pages but it is still there. How do I get rid of it?
