Dropdown Menu Hover Text Color

I have been able to change the dropdown menu text with:
.minimal-skin #main-nav > li.current-menu-ancestor > a { color: #4b6c69!important; }

But, when I change to change the hover color with:
.minimal-skin #main-nav > li.current-menu-ancestor > a:hover { color: #4b6c69!important; }

Nothing changes?

I need #4b6c69 to be the hover color for all menu items (it works for the main menu items, but not the dropdown menu items), instead it is now going to a default light blue color on a dropdown menu item hover:
