Disable Pages

I would like to know how to disable pages from public view without deleting them.

I have set a page in draft status, private, pending review and sent them to the trash but these pages continue to be visiable.

The only way the page disappears is if I completely delete it which I prefer not to do in case I need these pages in the future.
