Demo import difficulty

I’m having trouble importing demo import. I don’t know where I did wrong, but the sliders and contact form is not functioning. I have followed the instructions at https://hb-themes.com/forum/all/topic/aegaeus-import-demo-content/

I am thinking of doing over, deleting everything and starting over. The problem is the instructions break down at #8.

8. After that, you need to choose your menu.
8.1 Go to Appearance > Menus.
8.2 In Theme Location dropdowns, select Main menu and Footer menu.

I cannot go from 8 to 8.1. The available options force me to create a new menu. From there, everything deviates.
