    Hello,

I’m currently updating a website for a publication that primarily posts content from non-staff contributors. All of the content is going through the publication’s editors, but we would still like to give the authors credit in the byline of the post. It wouldn’t be appropriate to create users for all of these posts, as we are working on digitizing an archive that goes back ten years.

I haven’t found many plugins for this problem, and none seem to display correctly with Highend. Is there perhaps a way to implement a custom field that replaces the ‘Author’ of a post with a custom name, or a byline tag? I’ve also tried ‘Co-Authors Plus’ with no success.

The closest I’ve been able to get is using a plugin called ‘Byline’ (https://wordpress.org/plugins/byline/), but this causes a display that looks like this:
    Byline error

Is there anything I can do to adjust the theme to display a custom author natively, or with a different plugin?

    Thanks!
