Can't get rid of Contact Form on contact page

I have a page that is mydomain.com/contact/ and even though it is on the “default” page template it applies the contact template and puts the form in there. I would like to be able to put my own form and customize that instead of this automatic one. it is a contact form 7 form(i have the plugin installed)

I tried deleting the page and recreating not touching the page template and it still applies it.
