Can't create a hyperlink in a visual composer text block

I have a list of names on a “parent” page. Each name has an associated “child” page. I highlight one name in the text block on the “parent” and click “Link” to insert the “child” page URL. Although the code is visible in the text block and the name appears in blue as if it’s a hyperlink, the link does not appear when I “preview” or “update” the page–even if I hover over the name.
