Blog Template Not Working

I am having quite a few problems with the blog pages.

#1 – The blog template for the page is not working. No matter what template I choose, it does not change.

#2 – I am able to add videos to the posting, however, the video is huge on the screen both on the main blog page and in the post itself. Is there not a way to use the embed function from youtube’s sharing options? There doesn’t appear to be a way to make it look as clean as your demo’s main blog page. This may be due to the issue above in #1.

I am offline with this one right now on a production so if you could just tell me what to try and change, I will do so. I am running with a child theme.
