Background colour of header

I have read through some previous posts about this, and from what I can tell, the colour of the space behind the logo (i.e. the header) is unable to be changed. Is this still the case? If so, can you help me with the custom css I would need to use to ensure the logo covers the entire header space as I don’t want a white background.
