WPML flag not appearing next to current language in language switcher

I need the flag to appear next to the selected language. It appears next to all of the choices (on hover) but not next to the language that is displayed in the top bar.

The WPML settings show a preview of what the language selector should look like, and it shows the flag next to the selected language exactly as I want it to appear, so I’m assuming this appearance is being overridden by a style within the theme.
