SOS! image URLs not linking to external pages

I have the Highend WP Theme, and can’t get my custom social share buttons up.

I can get the images on the page, and they are clickable, but they do not link to anything. Instead I get the spin wheel of death and sometimes I will get a re-direct to another page in my site. It is as if it won’t link externally.

This text link in the widget sidebar works:

BUT, this image link (which I found on a couple sites), seems to try connecting to another page within my website, it does not go to my twitter page unless i right-click “open in a new window”:

I have tried using graphics hosted in wordpress and hosting them in photo bucket. no luck.
