Replace icon with CSS

Hi there!

I would like to replace an image (png) with one of the IcoMoon or FontAwesome icons.
Can I do this by adding CSS?

Now, it looks like this:

.icon-download {
    background-image: url(„image.png“);
}

(can not change the code itself, because it is part of a widget)
