Recommendations for Caching Plugins/Database Optimization

We’ve been using the Highend Theme for the past 8 years or so, and have generally been happy with it. We’ve also been using W3 Total Cache for browser/page/object caching and believe it to be functional for our needs. However, we recently noticed that disk based caching is not going to work for a site of our size as it generally creates tons of files and clogs up our disk. Has anyone had any experience implementing Memcached or Redis with Highend + W3 Total Cache? If so, we’d like to learn more. Thanks!
