    Hello,

I’m pretty sure this is a stupid question, but I’m confused.

I want to create a child theme of the AegaeusWP Theme. I see there is a Child Theme folder in the Aegaeus_4.0 directory. Inside this folder is a .zip file. I assume it’s correct to extract the .zip file into this same Child Theme directory?

I’m confused because when I do that, and I go to check my themes on WordPress, there is no child theme option. However, when I extract the .zip file to a new directory I create, named Aegaeus_4.0-child, which is what I originally did, and go to check if the new theme is in my wordpress theme section, there is an error message at the bottom of the screen. It reads:

    Broken Themes

The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.
    Name Description
Aegaeus Child The parent theme is missing. Please install the “AegaeusWP” parent theme.

I don’t get this broken theme error message when I extract the .zip file into the same Child Theme directory it’s already in. But I also don’t get a child theme option on wordpress.

So please, help me out with this. I’m confused and am under the impression that when a child theme is created correctly, you are to select it in theme section of your wordpress site.

    Thanks.
