Opacity of Portfolio Images Mouse-Over

This is one of those things that really annoy me. I mouse over an image and suddenly there is a black box over the image that almost completely blocks out the moused-over image. Is there a way to adjust the opacity of this black box and make it more transparent? Thank you in advance for your help.
