Modification on my homepage and my blog articles

Sorry a rookie question, I’m not a techie guy. I would like to edit my theme so that my blog name is smaller in the homepage, a bit higher up, a solution so that the slider appears higher up on the page.

This isn’t just a problem on the homepage. On my posts, the whole screen before I scroll just shows my blog name and the post title. I think this isn’t very engaging. Anyway, I’d like to narrow the field with my blog name and white background.
