hypertext links get changed

    My site url will be teachingjobs-ny.com. When I add a link to a website like example.com to a page, the link actually is changed to teachingjobs-ny.com/example.com

    Is there any way you might suggest that I can keep urls and hypertext links from being added to my domain?
