hiding strip of bg color above footer

Hi,
How do I get rid of the strip of background color that shows up between the last module and footer of a page? Whenever I try to create a module with a background color or image, there is always a strip of bg color showing through between this module and footer. Is there a setting to hide this? Thanks!
