Change/Hide wp-admin page

Is there a downside to changing my wp-admin page. Currently I am using a child theme along with the Highend theme. Lately I have been getting many brute force attacks on the wp-admin page. Or is there a better way to hide the wp-admin page that will not be effected by theme updates, etc?
