Can't indent text

Hi, I’m trying to indent text in a poem but the indent button in the kitchen sink isn’t working. It looks right in visual composer, and also in classic view, but when I preview it the indentations have gone. Adding lots of spaces doesn’t work either.

This is an example of the code:

this is the text of the poem
<p style=”padding-left: 90px;”>text of the poem here.</p>
<p style=”padding-left: 60px;”>text here too,</p>
and this is more text of the poem.

Please can you tell me what I need to do? Indenting text is something I’ll have to do frequently on this site.
