Cannot hide a featured image on a post

I’m using the Team Members carousel to pull in members. The Featured image seems necessary to show an image in the carousel, but I do not want the same image to be displayed on the detail page itself. I’ve selected “Hide” in the Featured Section Settings and also click the “Hide Feature Image” box within the general settings. Neither of them take the featured image off of the page.

The only thing that take it off the page is removing the featured image, but when I do that, no image comes up in the carousel.
