Cannot get rid of front page banner

There’s a message on my front page that tells me to go to settings>reading and set the front page layout, but it won’t disappear.

I want my latest posts to appear on the front page, but this isn’t working.. all I see is this message : You need to choose your home page in your WordPress Dashboard > Settings > Reading.

Please help
