Background color issues

I am trying out coloring the backgrounds and have a few issues:

1. The sticky nav menu doesn’t register the color change as defined in the Color Navbar section.

2. I can’t find a way to change the background color of the following:

a. Submenu items

b. post previews

c. author information/bio
