4.1 update removed settings

We did the 4.1 update and all the content and settings disappeared from the site. We can see them in the Dashboard/edit page but we cannot get the live site to show as it was before the update. We tried to restore the page from a date prior to the update with no luck. We have changed the settings to say show content etc but it does not work. It appears that visual composer is not working either. It appears it is template related as well. Default template does not work. Where is the home page template!?
