blog images don't show on homepage

On the homepage the images in blog posts don’t display, but the text does. If I alternate images and lines of text, all of the text shows up but not the images in between them. When I click on the post to go to the full post page the images do display. It does not appear to be an ‘excerpt’ problem and Nothing else seems to work.
