One Page with no navigation & feature image

Hello

I am really struggling to great a one page site.

I don’t want any navigation on the page. I would like a cover image at the top of the page (ideally the featured image).

Could you please tell me how I can do this.

If I use a blank page template, the feature image does not work. If I use the blank page template and the background image feature, the image I want to use is blown up really big (and is not all visible) to create the background.
