Featured section on custom post type

Hi,
I would like to have a featured section on a custom post type that I created.

However, the featured section meta box only appears on pages.

I’ve gotten the metabox to show up, but when I choose a featured section option, it doesn’t show up on the post.

I think that I probably need to edit header-slider-section.php to allow the featured section to be placed on the header for post types, but I don’t know what to do. . . .
