main navigation background color

Hi, I have been pulling my hair out trying to figure this out! I’m trying to make JUST the navigation bar green and keep the logo section white. It seems like it would be such a simple thing to do with the rather extensive robust theme but it seems impossible. When I change the “navigation color” in the customization section it changes the entire top header!

I have tried this css:
#header-inner.nav-type-1 .main-navigation {
background: #ebe9e4;
}
#header-inner.nav-type-1 #header-inner-bg .container {
background: #ebe9e4;
}

#header-inner-bg {
background: #ebe9e4;
}

Please help!
